I am not the primary bill payer for the internet service, that is my father.

I am however the soul user of our service (as far as i know). And my opinion influences the decision to keep mediacom as the primary service provider in our househols (internet, Cable Tv.)

I am pleased to say that my internet service overall is very good. High download speeds, fast browsing. Average online gaming experience.

I have been using Netflix as my general media streaming medium over the past four months when i moved in with my father. I have absolutely NO need to use torrents such as pirate bay. I purchase ALL of my software.

About a month and a half ago, I received a letter in the mail about some copyright infringement on materials labeled "Yu-gi-Oh." I scoffed and ignored the letter. A week later my internet was disabled. Causing me to lose time on projects i have deadlines on. In turn, costing me money. So i had to call mediacom's customer service *** all of them). I explained my situation as calmly as i physically could. The general conversation could be viewed as this. (keep in mind it HAS been a month and i am trying my best to recreate the flow of the conversation, not necessarily EVERY word that was said.)

Me: Hello, my name is *********, i am calling about discontinued service.

Girl with impossibly strong Indian accent: Yes, it says here that you are under service suspention for being suspected of violation of terms of agreement.

Me: Yes , that IS what i am calling about. However, I am unfamiliar with any and all materials sited on this notice. This must be some mistake on your end.

Girl: No sir, this is not a mistake, you will have to send a letter to our (forgot the name of the place) to get this problem resolved, aswell as remove all questioned materials from your computers.

Me: Well that is going to be a problem since i do not HAVE the materials in question on my computer.

Gril: Then you will have to send a letter in explaining your situation. They will then review the situation and determine if your are applicable to continue receiving internet service.

(this is where i start to get annoyed)

Me: I am sorry, but i need my internet service activated IMMEDIATELY. I do not have time to deal with mistakes your company has made in dealing with fraud. I will NOT be inconvenienced by YOUR stupidity. Let me speak to a manager.

Girl: I am sorry, but you need to send in the lett-

Me: LET ME TALK TO A MANAGER.

(hold for about 15 minutes, not to bad.)

Manager: Yes sir, how may i help you.

Me: Yes i am just trying to get this problem solved. I received a letter from you regarding some copyright infringement on content i did not have, or for any reason might need.

Manager: Yes i see that you are under suspension at the moment. You will need to send a letter to the (Again, dont know the name) office to get your situation resolved.

Me: I am not going to send a letter. In fact, I will get my father on the phone and have your services cancelled almost immediately if you refuse to provide the services we PAY for; and that you are withholding from us wrongly.

Manager: Are you the account holder? (most likely in response to me saying "get my father")

Me: No, i am speaking on behalf of my father. If you need to speak with him i will have him call within the next few minutes. He will NOT be happy.

Manager: Unfortunately we MUST speak with the account holder.

Me: Understood. I was just determining if he NEEDED to be brought into this. He will not be happy about it i can tell you that right now. He MAY even decide to discontinue service instead of dealing with your absolutely terrible customer service one more time.

Manager: I am sorry for any inconvenience sir, but yes, we must speak to your father to get this problem resolved.

Me: Thank you. Next time do not threaten your customers and you will not have to deal with ****s like me, i suggest you take that to heart sir.

Manager: -click-

Me: oh you ****

Then, like clockwork, last night i received yet ANOTHER letter from mediacom. This time its a final notice. If my internet service is discontinued again, i am going to PROMPTLY convince my father to cancel your services.

I have spoken to employees of DTV and Dish at my time working at best buy. Just as, give me the bare truth. What do you think about such n such. But the most enlightening conversation i had about ISP's and Television providers, was with a DTV salesman. We were all bearing the blue of best buy back in computers, just talking. No one was trying to sell anyone anything.

He was honest, He knew Mediacom was simply the fastest internet connection in the area, and you almost couldn't avoid them if you had any intention of video streaming or gaming. He praised all of the high points he could squeeze out. Not many might i add.

We went on to discuss this in our down time for about an hour or so. He was not trying to sell services to us. We were simply having an intelligent conversation about what's what.

I can tell you my next service will BE DTV simply because of this man. He sold me on being honest about the pros and cons. Something This TERRIBLE company will never understand.

Same thing just happened to me today. Said someone had downloaded Game of Thrones, but I own every season and have a subscription to HBO.

I immediately responded with an email explaining my situation, but if this goes on I'll definitely be switching companies. Ridiculous.

Same has happened to me today. They actually had someone call us at 5:15 but we lost connection in the middle of the call they didn't bother calling back instead they closed for the day.

We called 5 minutes after noticing they weren't calling back and their awful customer service explains that department has closed. I work from home I do not download. They did tell us they seen the content was downloaded from Apple iPhone well I don't own one I own a droid Maxx 2. They also said her name the name of the phone owner was Christa well no friends with that name.

I'm switching companies this is ridiculous.

Stop using pirated software and games and visiting *** sites which is illegal in your locality. This is why your service was cancelled.

The ports and MAC address your computer is directly linked and logged. Illegal or child *** and use of pirated games are cause for cancelation of service under the terms of service agreement.

Do you honestly think anyone wants to deal with more headaches from your company after they get threatening letters and teeth grinding phone calls, James? Quit trying to soften negative social impact with your wrote responses online. How about changing your first contact support model instead.

I can definitely understand your frustration with this issue, and the representatives you spoke with should have explained the situation to your better. We do have a dispute process for these situations, however that would need to be discussed with the account holder.
